Are you planning on attending C4 from the United States? Don't worry! We've compiled some handy tips for you to make sure you can pass over the border and get to the convention.

Tip 1: Have your passport.

As of June 1st, 2009, all residents of the United States require a passport to travel across the Canadian border.

Tip 2: Schedule your time.

Sometimes crossing over the border can take upwards of two hours - make sure to budget your time so you'll have enough time to cross over the border, drive to Winnipeg, and still see everything at the convention. Driving from the Convention Centre in Winnipeg to the United States border takes approximately one and a half to two hours.

Tip 3: Don't bring weapons - even replicas.

When crossing over the border, refrain from having items such as: replica firearms, metal-bladed replicas or weapons (swords, knives, shuriken, sword canes, switchblades, etc.), blunt weapons (staves, nunchuks, etc.), projectile weapons (blowdarts, crossbows, etc.), and so on.

They might be confiscated - or worse yet, you could be denied crossing. This goes for both going to and coming back from the convention.

Tip 4: Don't arrive too late.

Don't show up an hour before the convention closes on the last day and expect that everything will be as pristine as the first day. Rare collectibles are often snatched up fast, and some guests may have to depart to catch a plane soon after the convention ends. The con is an event to enjoy all weekend - be sure to come early and have lots of fun!

Tip 5: Bring Canadian money.

Be sure to exchange your money for Canadian dollars before arriving at the convention. Few - if any - dealers will be working with American money and dealing with exchange rates. Also, remember that everything will appear to be priced more expensively due to it being priced in Canadian dollars - but it might be a deal!
